Years wandering the now ragged scrum, Never knew what they would become
Sleep by day and hide from the sun, Once seekers now prey on the run
The arid plain they’ve traveled so long, Something looming in the east at dawn
Pressing forward through the day, headstrong, Towering in the distance multifarious prongs
Stone seracs, sentinels on the barren plain, Land of ghosts, only limestone towers remain
A sojourn on a pilgrimage to attain, power storied, known only to the slain
Lightning tears a blaze in the northern sky, Towers explode, boulders fall and dive
Seekers cower, there’s nowhere to hide, Numbers diminished, crushed brothers die
Invade, Migrate, Occupy, Permeate
The blood meridian brings the beginning and the end
Roles will reverse, times a hole, ouroboros our old friend
Degraded from the onslaught
The pilgrims have no fight
Surrendering their living shells
They’re filled with demon light
Stone conduits eating electric light, Energy illuminates every obelisk in sight
Beams shine upward to the tenebrous night, Wraiths signaled, drawn to the unholy site
Mortals surrounded, sea of specters, Fighting for scant human husks, receptors
Defenseless men lacking shield or protector, An exchange of souls flowing like stygian nectar
Invade, Migrate, Occupy, Permeate
The blood meridian brings the beginning and the end
Roles will reverse, times a hole, ouroboros our old friend
Wraiths lay waste, On the barren plain
Where strangely luminous, Monoliths remain
Degraded from the onslaught, The pilgrims have no fight
Surrendering their living shells, They’re filled with demon light
Withdraw, Migrate, Depart, Evacuate
Invade, Migrate, Occupy, Annihilate

What I like about Draken too is that the music is fierce but not too macho, aggressive but not dumb. The most important feature is masterfull riffage though, and writing songs that stick in your brain and make you yearn for the time you can bang your head along in front of the stage. I seriously can’t wait to see this live. Weirdo Shrine

If you like to live on the edge and have no regard for mindless compliance or conformity, this might just be the ticket. But I gotta warn you, Auralayer's Thousand Petals is probably going to duke it out for Album of the Year at Clean and Sober Stoner, maybe even the Doom Charts, against the likes of Hail the Void, Faery Ring, Snakemother and Acid King. Once you cross that line, it can be hard to go back...

Faerie Ring return and so does the RIFF, all caps. Faerie Ring take what would be a cookie cutter riff from anyone else and just JUICE it so thoroughly, with passion and energy and melodic interest and the all-important rhythmic groove (much more important to a good stoner riff than loud fuzz), that it just blows out your speaker and makes you mean mug. Guaranteed. I loved the wacky sounds they created in the studio that really push this over the edge from great into bonkers-great. pinkytheent
